With the aim of promoting innovative cardiovascular research, The Institute for Cardiogenetics are collaborating with VIAgenomics to translate years of knowledge into pioneering treatment.
In early 2018, VIAgenomics and The Institute for Cardiogenetics were thrilled to announce funding introduced by The British Heart Foundation (BHF) and the German Centre for Cardiovascular Research (DZHK e.V.) to promote international cooperation between cardiovascular researchers in Great Britain and Germany.
Receiving €2.4 million, the collaboration has the aim to promote innovative cardiovascular research with the potential for improved clinical diagnosis, prevention or treatment. This eBook shines a light on the exciting collaboration.

What do you know about the DZHK e.V. and The British Heart Foundation?
The DZHK focuses on translating new approaches in cardiovascular research into clinical practice as rapidly as possible in order to improve diagnosis, prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. This mission of funding the collaboration of The Institute for Cardiogenetics and VIAgenomics is of utmost clinical and health economic importance because in the future, the incidence of cardiovascular disease will increase further as a result of the rising incidence of metabolic disorders (such as obesity, diabetes) and due to demographic change.
The British Heart Foundation (BHF) is a charity organisation in the UK, and funds research to beat heartbreak from heart and circulatory diseases and their risk factors. It is a major funder and authority in cardiovascular research, education, and care, and relies predominantly on voluntary donations to meet its aims.
