B Medical Systems, a Luxembourg based global leader of vaccine cold chain solutions and an established manufacturer and distributor of blood management and medical refrigeration solutions, has announced its collaboration with Kuehne+Nagel, a global leader in logistics, for the opening of a new distribution centre in Luxembourg.
The new distribution centre of 6000m2 can store more than 6000 products at any time and will cater to the global business requirements of B Medical Systems.
B Medical Systems offers reliable and efficient vaccine refrigerators and freezers, laboratory refrigerators and freezers, blood bank refrigerators, plasma freezers, vaccine transport boxes etc., that are critical for the safe storage and transport of vaccines, medicines, and biospecimens.
Supply chain optimisation
During the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the company has successfully supported governments, health ministries and international organisations, setting up cold chains to store vaccines at various temperature ranges, depending on the vaccine’s needs. This has resulted in a significant demand for B Medical Systems’ products across the world, to which the company responded by expanding its production facility in Luxembourg and by opening a new facility in India.
The new distribution facility in collaboration with Kuehne+Nagel BeLux is a part of the supply chain optimisation initiatives of B Medical Systems. With customers in more than 130 countries, the company expects this new distribution centre to drive significant improvement in the delivery times and customer services thereby offering efficient global transportation and distribution services to its global customers.
Mr Mario Treinen, COO of B Medical Systems, said: “I am very pleased to announce that B Medical Systems and Kuehne+Nagel BeLux have joined forces to ensure that we have the logistical means to care for any customer request during this period of high demand for our products.
“As global leaders in the Vaccine Cold Chain, which nowadays is at the centre of the news due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was important for us to partner with a global leader in the field of logistics. Kuehne+Nagel BeLux, with their ability to store more than 6000 products while supporting a rotation of 1000 products per week, was an obvious solution for our needs.”
Mr Andrea Scammacca, the Global Head of Supply Chain at B Medical Systems, added: “This is another key milestone for B Medical Systems and its Supply Chain development.
Luxembourg is for us very important due to its flexibility and the central position in Europe.
Kuehne+Nagel´s Distribution centre is ten minutes away from the Luxembourg airport and about 20 minutes from the EuroHub from which we can ship containers via rail to the port of Antwerp, and from there all over the world, reducing CO2 emissions.”
Mr Tobias Jerschke, Managing Director of Kuehne+Nagel BeLux, said: “Kuehne+Nagel’s partnership with B Medical Systems in Luxembourg builds on our shared commitment to enable storage and logistics solutions for Pharma & Healthcare customers and patients at the end of the supply chain. We are proud that a reputable company like B Medical Systems, which knows the challenges of Pharma and Healthcare logistics well, has chosen Kuehne+Nagel BeLux for their new global distribution centre in the Grand Duchy. The partnership also brings our Contract Logistics solutions for Pharma & Healthcare customers to our Value Chain Hub in Luxembourg, making it our third strategically located pharma-certified Contract Logistics warehouse next to Geel (BE) and Eindhout (BE).”
B Medical Systems expects to increase the number of products stored in the future, especially once the new production facility will become fully operational and the company will be able to increase its manufacturing capabilities further.
